Do you love working in bars and leading a team? A rooftop bar in Christchurch, New Zealand needs a Duty Manager.
The bar is in the city centre and is now in its sixth year. It opens Tuesday to Sunday. Every guest gets table service. The menu has plates to share and fresh food for each season. On Mondays, the team works on functions, training, cocktail competitions and making the venue look good.
The job is full-time and permanent. Your contract has a minimum of 30 hours. You work evenings and weekends, and closing shifts rotate. Friday and Saturday evenings are not optional. Pay is $28 to $32 per hour. Sponsorship is available for the right candidate. You can start right away, and there is regular training and a chance to grow for people who commit to hospitality.

Key Responsibilities
- Say hello to guests when they arrive
- Take care of bookings and customer questions
- Take orders and payments
- Suggest extra items to guests (up-selling)
- Lead the team by working beside them
- Make sure customers are happy
- Be the contact person for functions
- Watch front of house costs and overheads, keeping them in line with KPIs and targets
- Plan the front of house roster to meet KPIs and targets
- Train front of house staff
- Keep the workplace positive and friendly
- Order stock and count it every month
- Open and close the venue using standard steps
- Keep the venue safe and healthy and follow all legal rules
- Help create new menus, including drinks, recipes, costings and marketing
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least three years of bar work
- Experience with cocktails in a busy bar (high volume)
- Valid LCQ
- Current Duty Managers Certificate
