Do you love baking bread and cakes? A busy bakery café in Brisbane needs a full-time Baker with experience. Everything is baked fresh in the shop every day. The team also makes custom cakes for celebrations.
This is a permanent job. The hours are 38 per week. You will do daily baking and also finish pastries and cakes. The business is established and growing.

Key Responsibilities
- Check raw materials for quality
- Weigh and measure ingredients for each batch
- Mix doughs, batters and cake mixes
- Make pastry and fillings
- Shape and portion dough and pastry into breads, rolls, cakes and tarts
- Prepare trays and tins and load the ovens
- Control oven heat and baking times
- Glaze, ice and decorate with icing, cream, chocolate, fondant and sugar paste
- Make custom celebration cakes for customer orders
- Price, pack and display products in the café, and plan the day so it is fully stocked at opening
- Use and clean mixers, sheeters, provers and other equipment
- Keep food safety, hygiene and work health and safety standards
- Help with new recipes and products, and supervise and train junior bakers and kitchen staff
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III or IV in Baking or Patisserie, or a higher qualification in culinary arts or patisserie
- At least 1 year as a Baker, Pastry Chef or Pastrycook in a commercial bakery, patisserie or hotel kitchen
- Strong skills in pastry, cakes and decorating
- Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene, and able to work early mornings, weekends and a rotating roster
- Desirable: fondant and custom cake design skills
- Desirable: you have supervised a kitchen or led a team
- Desirable: you have worked in a bakery or café with customers
