Do you fix big trucks and love solving hard problems? A road transport company in regional New South Wales wants a Diesel Motor Mechanic for heavy commercial vehicles. This is a permanent, full-time job. You can be based in Dubbo, or at a second workshop in the Riverina with a rotating roster to Dubbo.
You will work on prime movers, trailers and bulk freight equipment. The main tasks are complex diagnostics, repairs and preventive maintenance. The goal is less downtime and a fleet that meets NHVR, chain of responsibility and WHS rules.
The company offers subclass 482 visa sponsorship for suitably qualified candidates. People who already have a valid visa in Australia get preference, but this is not required. A licence, a medical check and a drug and alcohol test are part of the job criteria.

Key Responsibilities
- Service engines, transmissions and brakes on a regular schedule, including logbook services, as the OEM guidelines say
- Find the cause of electrical, mechanical and emission control problems with modern diagnostic tools, then fix it
- Rebuild big parts and make parts by fabrication if needed
- Make sure every truck meets NHVR rules and write good audit records
- Work safely in the workshop
- Record jobs as work orders in the fleet software
- Help trucks that break down on the road and show drivers how to check vehicles and report problems
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least 2 years as a heavy diesel mechanic, preferably in road transport
- Qualification in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- Experience with NHVR standards and bulk freight equipment is desirable
- Can use diagnostic software and knows petrol and diesel engines
- Has a current licence
- Can pass a medical and a drug and alcohol test
