Key Responsibilities

  • Before each job, go through the technical drawings, plans and fabrication specs
  • Mark out, measure and cut materials with accuracy, then prep and assemble them
  • Get every component fitted and aligned ahead of final welding
  • Use MIG, TIG and Stick processes across various applications and welding positions
  • Lay clean welds that stay consistent and are structurally sound
  • Meet engineering requirements in all your fabrication and welding, keeping measurements and tolerances correct throughout
  • Inspect what you have finished to confirm it is accurate, compliant and good quality
  • Sort out any problems with fit-up, fabrication or welding
  • Operate the workshop's machinery, tools and welding gear in a safe way
  • Manage the workshop tasks given to you, working efficiently without help
  • Talk with workshop personnel and other trades about what each project requires
  • Deliver a high standard of workmanship and productivity
  • Stick to the workplace's health, safety and quality procedures, and keep an orderly, professional work area
  • Do overtime when it is required, Saturdays included

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Recognised trade qualification in Welding, Boilermaking or Fabrication
  • Able to show proof of relevant qualifications and past employment experience
  • Demonstrated First-Class Welder/Fabricator background
  • Strong, hands-on time in a heavy fabrication or engineering workshop
  • Practical skill with MIG, TIG and Stick welding, including confident welding in multiple positions
  • Proven ability to make sense of engineering drawings and read them correctly
  • Fabrication, fitting and assembly skills at a strong level
  • Works accurately even with minimal supervision
  • A demonstrated commitment to precision and quality
  • Good skills in communication and teamwork
  • Strong professional work ethic and reliable attendance; able and willing to do regular overtime
  • Committed to the health and safety standards of Australian workplaces
  • For suitably qualified and experienced candidates who satisfy the applicable visa and sponsorship requirements, sponsorship may be available
