Warehouse Manager

Is warehouse leadership your strength? A distribution company in Mangere, Auckland, New Zealand, with a solid history, needs an accomplished Warehouse Manager. The position is full-time.

This job is much bigger than looking after goods in and goods out. The employer will trust you to:

  • make sure the entire site runs efficiently

The right person is a seasoned logistics professional with real leadership, strong operational know-how and a history of dependable warehouse results. Tip: in your English-language CV, mention how big your past teams were and which systems you used.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the warehouse's daily performance, and make sure the buildings, machines and resources are properly looked after
  • Hire, onboard, train and motivate supervisors and staff, and review how each person is doing
  • Plan each day's people and equipment around orders, shipments and what matters most
  • Make sure stock figures are right and run the planned stocktakes
  • Watch DIFOT, KPIs, output and the level of service
  • Study the layout and find ways to fit more into the storage space
  • Manage the devanning of import containers and all receiving tasks linked to it
  • Liaise with Customs, freight firms, shipping lines and logistics partners, and supervise outside suppliers and service companies
  • Act as the MPI Facility Operator or Accredited Person when this is required
  • Run accurate digital processes through the WMS and linked IT systems, alongside Sales, Finance, IT and other departments
  • Take the lead on Health & Safety so everyone puts safety first
  • Remove waste and slow steps, bring in practical improvements and grow a team culture of accountability, teamwork, reliability and always getting better

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A proven background as a Warehouse Manager, Distribution Manager, or senior warehouse professional, with a record of leading warehouse crews and operations staff
  • Deep know-how in stock accuracy, planning a warehouse and managing inventory
  • Hands-on experience with container handling, international freight and imports
  • Understanding of MPI processes and New Zealand compliance requirements is advantageous
  • Solid knowledge of workplace Health & Safety, and you put it into practice
  • Very good at communicating and managing people
  • Makes decisions and solves problems with confidence
  • Stays steady under pressure when a busy distribution site has many competing demands
  • Precise, with strong attention to detail in every operation
  • Good IT skills, including WMS or integrated warehouse systems, and experience in paperless or technology-enabled sites
  • A commercial view of productivity, costs and how resources are allocated
  • Reliable and on time, professional, and keeps high standards
  • Can supply genuine evidence of qualifications, experience and career history so it can be verified
  • Must satisfy New Zealand's employment, immigration and sponsorship requirements as applicable
