Key Responsibilities

  • Greet every guest warmly and keep each visit professional and consistent
  • Take care of your assigned section and its tables while quality stays high
  • Keep food and beverage service moving fast in busy trading periods, and run plates and drinks during peak times
  • Note each order accurately and tell the relevant team exactly what the guest needs
  • Deliver meals and beverages on time and in a professional way, carrying multiple plates safely
  • Lay tables ahead of service; once a sitting ends, clear them and lay them again
  • Process orders and payments accurately through the POS
  • Guide guests through menu and drink choices, and share what you know about food, wine and beverages so they enjoy their meal more
  • Coordinate well with the kitchen, the bar and other front-of-house colleagues
  • Make sure the dining room always looks clean, organised and presentable
  • Handle customer requests in a professional way and escalate issues when required
  • Stick to responsible service, workplace safety and hygiene procedures, and support a cooperative team that performs at a high level

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A current RSA Certificate
  • Restaurant waitstaff or food and beverage service experience that you can demonstrate
  • A hospitality qualification that is relevant, or industry experience at an equivalent level
  • Proven track record in a busy, high-volume restaurant
  • Puts guests first, with a strong customer service mindset
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication
  • Fluent English communication
  • Confident managing multiple tables and sittings
  • Can carry three plates safely
  • Has used computerised POS systems before
  • Knowledge of wine and beverages will be highly regarded
  • Well groomed and professionally presented; honest, reliable and well-spoken
  • Keeps strong attention to detail and remains composed under pressure
  • Flexible to work weekdays, evenings and weekends, and willing to contribute to a professional team environment
