Underground Heavy Diesel Fitter
Trade · Sydney NSW, Australia · Full-Time · $59/hr
Have you spent years fixing big machines? That experience could lead to a new career in mining in NSW.
Qualified fitters and mechanics are wanted. You need real, hands-on work with heavy equipment. It does not matter if it came from farm machinery, earthmoving, civil construction, quarrying, heavy vehicles or mining.
What counts most is what you can prove you have done. Think fault finding, repairs and keeping complex mechanical systems running safely and efficiently.
These are residential jobs, not FIFO. You live and work in a regional NSW community. Rosters change from site to site, and some options are set up so you get regular time at home.
Tip: keep your trade certificates and work references ready, with English translations if they are in Indonesian.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep heavy mobile machinery serviced and in good order for tough working conditions
- Look over equipment and catch mechanical problems early, before they turn into big breakdowns
- Work out what is wrong with engines, hydraulics, transmissions, drivelines and brakes, reading technical manuals, drawings and hydraulic schematics along the way
- Fix mechanical faults and replace parts, including major change-outs, rebuilds and overhauls
- Look after underground loaders, haul trucks, drills and other specialist machines
- Go to breakdowns and get machines safely back into service
- Do planned preventive maintenance the way the site requires
- Write up repairs, services, defects and other maintenance work
- Tell supervisors about equipment problems and what maintenance is needed
