Do you have a heavy vehicle licence and a safe driving record? An established distribution team in Drury, Auckland, New Zealand, is hiring reliable Class 2 and Class 5 truck drivers.
A good transport business needs drivers it can trust with vehicles, freight and customer deliveries. You should be able to show the right licence, practical driving skill and a good attitude.
Your work depends on your licence and suitability. Local drivers deliver around the Auckland region. Line-haul drivers take heavy combination vehicles between company sites, customers and distribution centres. The job is more than driving: you will also load and unload freight, get vehicles ready and support the wider transport operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive your Class 2 or Class 5 heavy vehicle with safety and care
- Do scheduled local deliveries across Auckland
- Handle heavy truck-and-trailer units on line-haul runs where required
- Move products between sites, customers and distribution centres
- Finish deliveries and pick-ups on schedule
- Load and unload freight, and secure it safely
- Help get trucks and freight ready each day, and do routine vehicle and safety checks
- Report any vehicle, freight or operational issues straight away
- Fill in the required delivery and transport paperwork
- Follow every company health, safety and operating procedure
- Be polite and professional with customers and co-workers, and represent the business well on the road
- Work on your own while still being part of the wider transport team, and help with other practical transport tasks when required
- Adjust to changes in workload, routes and shifts
Requirements & Eligibility
- You hold a current clean New Zealand Class 2 or Class 5 driver's licence
- You can drive the relevant heavy vehicle safely
- Class 5 candidates must be able to drive heavy combination vehicles
- Class 2 candidates must be able to do local delivery work
- You can demonstrate safe heavy vehicle driving
- Earlier heavy vehicle experience is preferred, but it is not essential if you can demonstrate the required capability
- A forklift licence is an advantage but not mandatory
- You are strongly committed to safe driving and workplace safety
- You turn up reliably and have a dependable work ethic, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
- You have good interpersonal and communication skills
- You can work alone or with a team, and you are willing to do physical transport duties
- You are flexible about different shifts, including night work, and available Monday to Saturday as rostered
- You can pass a pre-employment drug screening
- You can meet the applicable New Zealand employment and visa requirements
