Love the outdoors and love leading people? This could be your next step. A Store Manager is wanted in Otago, New Zealand, for an outdoor and adventure retail business that is already well established.

Here, your leadership counts. So do customer engagement and commercial results. The business trusts you to drive the store's daily performance, make your people stronger, and give shoppers expert, professional help. You lead a crew of approximately seven. An experienced Assistant Manager and the regional leaders back you up.

Applicants need retail leadership experience that can be verified, a practical style with staff and operations, and a genuine passion for outdoor living. Key Responsibilities

  • Own the daily performance of the shop and its retail operations
  • Lead by doing: stay active and visible on the sales floor
  • Grow each person through coaching, frequent feedback and product training, so the whole team knows technical outdoor products and equipment well
  • Shape a happy workplace where accountability, teamwork and customer service come first
  • Lift sales and chase the store KPIs you agree on, reading sales chances and shifting customer needs with commercial insight
  • Run stock control, merchandising, admin and the store's operational processes
  • Spot changes that would make the shop run better and leave customers more satisfied
  • Back structured staff development through in-house training programs, and hold firm standards for service, presentation and operational compliance
  • Partner with your Assistant Manager and the regional leadership team

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Demonstrated retail leadership as a Store Manager, Assistant Manager or in a comparable senior job
  • Proven results in managing, coaching and developing people in retail
  • Strong grasp of KPIs, sales targets and how retail commercial performance works
  • Confident, hands-on leadership, and able to motivate a small crew while holding clear performance standards
  • Strong relationship-building and customer service abilities
  • Sound organisation, administration and operations management skills
  • Strong decision-making and communication ability
  • Genuine passion for outdoor recreation, adventure, technical clothing or specialist outdoor equipment
  • Comfortable in a busy, fast-paced store where you deal with customers all day
  • International applicants are required to have relevant, verifiable professional experience
  • To be considered for Accredited Employer sponsorship, applicants must satisfy the New Zealand employment and immigration requirements that apply
  • Free to work the Tuesday–Saturday roster, which is required
  • Overseas applicants who are eligible may get visa sponsorship and relocation help supported by the employer
