Site Engineer

Are you a site engineer with real experience on concrete and civil jobs? An established infrastructure construction business needs an experienced Site Engineer for structural concrete and civil infrastructure projects in the ACT.

You must be able to show genuine time on site, good technical knowledge and the ability to manage engineering and quality from construction to completion. You will work closely with project management and site delivery teams. Your work will cover quality assurance, technical coordination, construction planning, documents and daily project progress.

The role gives you experience on major infrastructure works and a chance to grow toward senior site and project engineering duties. If your degree papers are in Indonesian, have them translated into English where the visa rules require it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering work on structural concrete and civil infrastructure projects
  • Make sure project managers, supervisors and construction crews know what site engineering needs
  • Put the project's quality assurance procedures and ITP requirements in place and keep them up to date
  • Handle inspection requests, hold points, witness points and quality records
  • Prepare lot documents, conformance records and handover documents, and keep them current
  • Find non-conformances, record them and help solve them
  • Check drawings, structural details, specifications and project requirements, then raise RFIs and work through technical questions with clients, consultants and contractors
  • Give engineering support when reinforcement, formwork and concrete work is under way, and check that reinforcement is installed to the approved drawings and specifications
  • Help with site setout and checking finished works
  • Compare progress with the project program, report possible delays, and organise the materials, plant and consumables needed for planned work
  • Take part in site inspections, coordination meetings and progress reviews
  • Give technical help to the site supervision and construction teams
  • Keep engineering, quality and project documents correct, and help meet site safety and environmental compliance requirements
  • Build good working relationships with head contractors, subcontractors and other project stakeholders
  • Help the team reach its quality, program and delivery goals, and suggest ways to improve engineering and construction processes

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years of Australian experience as a Site Engineer, working on civil infrastructure or structural concrete projects
  • A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a Structural Engineering-related discipline
  • Practical, proven understanding of site delivery and construction engineering
  • Strong knowledge of QA systems, ITPs, inspections and construction documents
  • You can read and understand structural drawings and technical specifications
  • You have managed RFIs, technical queries and non-conformance processes
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Good skills in organisation and documentation
  • White Card and a current driver's licence
  • You are able to get the required ACT site inductions and project access clearances
  • You work well on active construction sites and take a reliable, professional approach to project duties
  • Strong teamwork and good communication with stakeholders, plus a wish to keep learning and developing professionally
  • Bridge construction experience is highly regarded, and so is experience with dams, spillways or water infrastructure
  • Experience with Tier 1 or Tier 2 head contractors is highly regarded
  • Experience in reinforcement scheduling, procurement, fixing supervision and quality control is highly regarded
  • Visa sponsorship support may be available for eligible candidates
