Service Technician

Adelaide, South Australia. If you are an industrial electrician who wants a specialist path, this field role looks after overhead cranes, hoists, gantries and other industrial lifting systems.
Your value here is shown by the faults you diagnose, the repairs you complete and the results you deliver on real industrial sites. Industry-specific training is included. Your current electrical skills will go into tracing faults, preventive servicing, commissioning and answering breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities
- Trace electrical faults in overhead cranes, hoists and other industrial lifting gear, solving even complex equipment problems
- Handle emergency call-outs and breakdown repairs
- Carry out planned preventative servicing and electrical checks, and maintain equipment to the standards required
- Test and commission crane control systems and fix issues in them
- Deal with PLCs, motors, contactors, VSDs, limit switches and the controls linked to them
- Complete service reports and maintenance paperwork accurately
- Travel to customers in the city and regional areas, and sometimes interstate when required
- Be part of the rotating on-call roster
- Put in additional hours, including guaranteed overtime, as required
Requirements & Eligibility
- Cert III in Electrotechnology, or a qualification that is equivalent
- Holds a Current Electrical Licence or a Provisional Electrical Licence
- Proven background in industrial electrical work
- Real hands-on experience fault-finding PLCs
- Demonstrated skill at diagnosing electrical issues without help, backed by strong troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Practical know-how with industrial motors and control systems
- Comfortable working alone while building professional customer relationships
- Open to learning overhead crane and lifting equipment technology
- Ready to travel beyond metropolitan areas for approximately 10–30% of your time
- Suitable candidates whose qualifications are verified and whose experience is relevant may be considered for sponsorship
