Security work needs people others can rely on. Dependable Security Officers are wanted for a sensitive, high-security role in Queensland, Australia.
Your job is to keep operations secure. You protect people and assets, control who comes in and act on security concerns. A security qualification alone is not enough. You also need professionalism, good judgement, discretion and a strong sense of personal responsibility.
Hiring is careful, because each person's identity, credentials and suitability must be properly assessed. Eligible candidates who meet the employment, visa and security requirements may have sponsorship opportunities. Those without the required clearance may also be considered for support through the clearance process, subject to eligibility and conditions. Before you apply, note that a current QLD Security Licence is needed and Australian Citizenship may be required for clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Check everyone who enters secure facilities and let in only authorised people
- Patrol the site regularly, watch what is happening and act on suspicious behaviour or possible security risks
- Respond to alarms, incidents and emergencies
- Use good judgement when dealing with incidents and decide when a concern needs to be escalated
- Be a professional, friendly security presence and talk clearly with authorised personnel, contractors and visitors
- Apply the site protocols and security procedures the same way every time
- Write accurate reports, logs and other security records
- Keep sensitive information confidential
- Help keep the workplace secure, respectful and professional
Requirements & Eligibility
- Hold a current QLD Security Licence
- Australian Citizenship may be required to be eligible for security clearance
- Willing and eligible to go through the required security clearance process; a current security clearance is advantageous
- Able to pass the identity, credential and background verification requirements that apply
- High standards of honesty, integrity and accountability
- Strong communication skills
- Close attention to detail and a high level of situational awareness
- Stays calm and professional under pressure, and can follow strict security and operational procedures
- Previous experience in security or in another sensitive operational environment is desirable
- Meet the relevant eligibility requirements for sponsorship, where applicable
