Rope Access Technician

Do you work at height on ropes and keep safety first? A specialist technical services employer in New Zealand wants experienced Rope Access Technicians who have worked safely and effectively in tough conditions.

Your skills should be backed by recognised qualifications and industry experience that can be checked. The project mix changes all the time. Buildings, industrial sites and major infrastructure all need rope access work, from structural inspections at height to maintenance, remedial jobs and safety-system projects. A capable professional team will work beside you, and you can widen your technical experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out industrial rope access tasks at a variety of work sites
  • Inspect façades, buildings and structures, and support inspection projects on bridges and other infrastructure
  • Take on industrial maintenance, inspection and repair work, along with waterproofing and remedial jobs
  • Fit, inspect and look after height-safety systems
  • Rig rope access equipment and work-at-height systems, and check them before use
  • Move safely into elevated, restricted and difficult spots
  • Assess each site and solve access and work challenges with practical ideas
  • Record each project accurately with notes, photos and site paperwork
  • Work to the relevant rope access standards and workplace safety rules, with high-quality workmanship on all your projects
  • Communicate in a professional way with supervisors, team mates and clients
  • Work independently and still meet the safety and quality standards required
  • Be ready to travel to sites across New Zealand when required, including the odd overnight trip with accommodation and applicable allowances provided

Requirements & Eligibility

  • IRATA Rope Access qualification, current and valid
  • Also considered: the New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Rope Access (Level 4)
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on rope access experience, verifiable
  • Proof that you have done rope access-based work in professional environments
  • Evidence to support your qualifications and relevant employment history
  • Solid understanding of safe work practices at height
  • Comfortable on challenging sites where conditions change, and a practical problem-solver
  • A strong personal sense of responsibility for safety and quality
  • Able to work both independently and in a technical team
  • Communicates professionally
  • It is advantageous, but not essential, to hold a current driver's licence
  • It is advantageous, but not essential, to have professional-level English
  • Trade experience or relevant trade qualifications are advantageous
  • Extra training in height safety, inspection, construction or industrial work is advantageous
  • Ready to travel within New Zealand when project requirements dictate
  • Can meet relevant New Zealand immigration requirements if sponsorship is required
