You will join a professional roofing and cladding workforce that builds large-scale projects with modern construction systems. Your past experience is an important part of how candidates are chosen. For overseas applicants, your trade experience is assessed against a genuine employment need. Where you are eligible, a sponsorship pathway is available. The role is full-time, with competitive pay based on experience, ongoing workplace support, health insurance and transport to project sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Work on commercial roof installs and related construction tasks, placing every material exactly as the project specifies
- Measure and cut materials to fit around roof penetrations, vents, corners, ridges and other spots
- Fix edge and ridge flashings firmly in place
- Lay waterproof sheets and roofing underlay in the right position, and fasten the underlay with suitable fixings
- Line up starter sheets carefully, then fix roofing sheets securely with the correct overlaps
- Read drawings, specifications and site needs, and work out which materials are required from the drawings and site conditions
- Work with modern roofing, cladding and architectural systems
- Keep workmanship and finish at a steady high standard, checking finished work and fixing installation issues
- Spot hazards and follow all workplace and site safety procedures, using roofing tools, equipment and materials safely
- Work well with supervisors and other construction workers
- Travel to project sites when needed
- Keep the work area professional, organised and safe
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven experience as a roofer is preferred
- Overseas Roofers with experience may be considered for sponsorship
- Commercial roofing or cladding experience that is relevant is highly regarded
- Construction workers with transferable trade skills may also be considered
- Able to measure, cut and fit roofing materials accurately
- Able to read construction drawings and specifications
- A practical understanding of safety on construction sites, and physically able to carry out roofing and construction duties
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, plus good practical and problem-solving skills
- Works well in a team and is reliable and committed to the job
- Willing to learn new techniques in roofing and cladding
- Willing to travel between project sites when required
