Retail manager

Are you a hospitality manager who likes to lead from the front? A growing organisation in Perth, Western Australia needs an experienced Retail Manager. You will run the daily operations of a busy hospitality business.

The role suits a motivated person with strong leadership and business management skills. You will be in charge of store performance, and you will lead and develop staff. You will keep customer service high, look after stock and financial results, and make sure the business follows workplace and food safety rules. The organisation offers long-term career development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run the business day to day and supervise daily store activities
  • Track sales performance and profit
  • Keep labour costs and operating expenses under control, and plan and manage staff rosters
  • Recruit new employees, onboard them and train them
  • Coach and mentor the team and manage performance
  • Keep customer service at a high level, and answer enquiries and handle complaints in a professional way
  • Watch inventory levels and coordinate stock purchasing
  • Do regular stocktakes and reduce wastage
  • Look after relationships with suppliers
  • Study sales reports, find ways to improve the business and put plans in place to grow revenue and efficiency
  • Make sure food quality, presentation and service are consistent
  • Keep workplace health and safety standards, and make sure the business follows food safety regulations and company policies
  • Keep business and operational records accurate
  • Support ongoing business growth and the development of the team

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years of full-time work as a Retail Manager, Café Manager or in a similar hospitality management role
  • Experience running a high-volume retail or hospitality operation
  • You have supervised and led a team of 10 or more employees
  • Hands-on experience with staff rosters and labour cost management
  • Experience with purchasing and inventory control
  • Strong skills in sales analysis and financial management
  • Excellent leadership and people management, with strong communication and customer service skills
  • You can solve problems and make sound business decisions
  • Experience using POS systems and Microsoft Office; experience with hospitality POS systems is an advantage
  • You know the food safety and workplace health and safety requirements
  • Able to work weekends, evenings and public holidays
  • A relevant qualification in Hospitality, Business or Management is advantageous
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate is desirable, and First Aid Certificate is desirable
  • Experience opening new stores or managing multiple locations is advantageous
