Are you a Registered Nurse with real, provable experience? This role gives you a chance to have your credentials assessed for a professional nursing career in New Zealand.
It is about more than landing a job overseas. You will be assessed on your nursing background, qualifications, English ability and readiness to meet New Zealand's professional requirements. Suitable international nurses can get guidance through the Nursing Council registration process and, where it applies, the CAP pathway.
The workplace is a premium residential aged care home. Clinical quality, resident dignity and care designed around each person are at the heart of daily practice.
Tip: if your documents are in Indonesian, plan for English translations where the visa rules require them.
Key Responsibilities
- Give each resident safe nursing care planned around their own needs
- Carry out thorough clinical assessments and keep up regular health observations
- Write personalised nursing care plans and review them
- Keep clinical notes accurate, complete and on time
- Watch for any change in a resident's health and escalate concerns through the right channels
- Support residents' dignity, independence, comfort and quality of life, and build trust and respect with them and their families
- Team up with care assistants and other health professionals, giving care assistants clinical guidance and mentoring
- Encourage everyone to use best-practice care procedures consistently, and take part in quality improvement initiatives
- Help keep clinical care and service delivery at a high standard
- Communicate clearly with residents, families and the care team
- Use professional judgement when handling clinical and resident-care situations
- Help create a respectful, culturally inclusive workplace, following professional, clinical and workplace standards
Requirements & Eligibility
- Registered Nurse qualification, with credentials that are suitable for the Nursing Council of New Zealand to assess
- At a minimum, 2 years of nursing experience at post-graduate level
- Experience in aged care or medical nursing is preferred
- Either CAP approval from the NZ Nursing Council, or willingness to go through the applicable registration pathway
- Willing to undergo assessment for New Zealand nursing registration
- IELTS or OET results that satisfy the Nursing Council's English language requirements
- Education that meets the scope-of-practice standards for a New Zealand Registered Nurse
- Can provide verifiable qualifications and professional employment history, and must be able to demonstrate that your qualifications, professional experience and supporting documentation are authentic
- Strong skills in clinical assessment and observation
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Demonstrated compassion and empathy in caring for older people
- Works well independently and with others, with a positive, collaborative team attitude
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
- A professional, confident and accountable approach, committed to quality nursing and continuous improvement
- Being competent in InterRAI is advantageous
- Eligible overseas applicants may be considered for sponsorship under an Accredited Work Visa
- Suitable candidates completing Nursing Council registration can receive support
- Eligible international nurses may be considered for CAP assistance
