Production Team Member/Supervisor

Do you have experience in food manufacturing? A growing food producer in New Zealand needs a Food Production Supervisor / Operator. Your reliability and eye for detail will shape what the line produces each day.
You will own the production floor. Your job is to keep things running smoothly and make sure each batch meets the standard. It is very hands-on. With a small team, you will take part in every stage: preparing ingredients, batching, running machines, checking quality, cleaning and coordinating production.
You should bring past food manufacturing experience and feel confident taking charge of targets, food safety, quality and the team. Some days you will supervise, other days you will work on the line. Sponsorship is available for a suitably qualified overseas candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan each day's production and give tasks to the team
- Make sure production is done safely, efficiently and on schedule, so orders are finished accurately and on time
- Weigh, measure and check ingredients carefully before production starts
- Make batches and products by following the approved recipes, and keep recipe controls and processes accurate
- Run mixers, fillers and other food manufacturing machines, and watch the machines and processes so everything runs smoothly
- Keep product quality steady, do quality checks and spot problems quickly
- Make sure every food safety and Good Manufacturing Practice rule is followed
- Clean and sanitise, and wash down the equipment every day
- Keep production areas tidy, clean and up to workplace standards
- Track daily targets and help the operation become more efficient
- Help train and support the production team
- Work with the Production Manager to fix problems on the floor
- Follow every Health & Safety procedure and report any hazards or issues
- Jump in and help with different production tasks when needed
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven work in commercial food production or food manufacturing
- Previous work as a Production Supervisor, Team Leader, Senior Production Operator or similar
- Experience in a workplace with an approved food control plan
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and quality requirements
- Hands-on experience running food manufacturing machines, including mixers, fillers or similar equipment
- Able to follow recipes, measurements and manufacturing steps accurately
- Strong attention to detail and committed to consistent products
- Able to lead and support a small production team
- Comfortable in a hands-on production workplace, and able to work efficiently to meet daily targets
- Reliable and hardworking, and physically capable of doing production and cleaning work
- Willing to do repetitive tasks and washdown duties
- Strong communication and organisation skills
- Quick to learn new machines and production systems
- Committed to keeping the workplace clean and safe
- Current forklift licence is advantageous
