In panel beating, your finished repairs speak louder than a list of past jobs. A long-standing vehicle repair operation in Otago, New Zealand is hiring a Panel Beater / Repair Technician with experience. They value reliable skills, careful detail work and a professional approach.

Every week brings different repairs, including structural work and prestige cars. Vehicles from big-name brands such as Tesla and Jaguar Land Rover may come through the door. Expect a modern shop, current equipment, continuing I-CAR certification training and structured development, so your skills keep growing.

Important: applicants need to hold New Zealand residency now, or a valid work visa that applies. For the right candidate, sponsorship is on offer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Size up each job first: assess the repair needed and work through the job sheet to understand the process
  • Fix collision damage and panels precisely and professionally
  • Trial-fit replacement parts and check the fit is right
  • Report any parts that are missing, wrong or extra
  • Work to the approved repair methods and instructions on site, and raise it with management if a repair needs more guidance
  • Complete all of your assigned repairs before a car goes through to painting
  • Tag removed parts with the matching job number and keep them stored neatly
  • Prepare repaired components and parts to hand over to the Paint Department
  • Carry out the last checks on reassembly, such as headlight positioning and any other adjustments
  • Check completed repairs for safety and quality, then sign off after the quality checks
  • Keep jobs moving at a good pace without dropping below expected repair standards

Requirements & Eligibility

  • At least 3 years in a relevant technician role, or else a Trade Certificate that is equivalent to Level 3 or Level 4 standard
  • Demonstrated, hands-on panel beating or vehicle repair experience
  • Understands job sheets and works through repair procedures
  • Completes technical tasks with no need for constant supervision
  • A strong focus on accurate, safe, quality repairs, and a high level of attention to detail
  • A team player in the workshop who communicates and organises well
  • Driving licence: full and clean
  • Current residency in New Zealand, or a valid work visa that applies
  • Dedicated to continuing technical training and professional growth
  • Sponsorship on offer for the right candidate
