Are you a mining engineer with real underground experience? An established underground mine in Queensland needs a Senior Mining Engineer for its short-term planning team. You should bring proven technical skills and hands-on time underground.
Your main job is to take the mine's existing strategies and turn them into clear plans that people can actually follow. Good plans help production and development stay safe. You need to understand how underground work really happens, and use your engineering knowledge for mine design, drill and blast, production planning and daily problems in operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Guide the mining engineering team on technical issues, and coach engineers, graduates and cadets
- Lead the work of preparing and delivering short-term plans for the underground mine
- Turn the bigger mine strategy into practical plans for daily operations
- Design the mine for development, production and underground infrastructure, using mine planning software to keep designs accurate and practical
- Use your engineering skills to improve mine sequencing and results in operations
- Prepare drill and blast designs and keep making them better
- Review stope designs and what short-term production needs
- Work with operations teams so every plan is realistic and can be achieved, and spot risks, limits and chances to improve
- Bring together planning needs for development, stoping, services, ventilation and backfill, and help production get ready so planned work is done well
- Keep improving how mine planning and design are done
Requirements & Eligibility
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related field
- Minimum 6–8 years of experience in mining engineering
- Strong experience in underground hard rock mining, plus a good understanding of underground mining methods and production processes
- Proven experience in short-term mine planning
- Demonstrated capability in mine design for operations
- Strong experience in drill and blast design, and strong knowledge of stope design and mine sequencing
- Has given technical leadership or mentored junior engineers
- Proficiency in Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine, Deswik or similar software
- Able to show that your underground mining experience is genuine and verifiable
- Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, and able to work well with both technical and operational teams
