Want hands-on trade work with plenty of variety? A Western Australian business that does industrial engineering and maintenance work, and has done so for years, is hiring. The role is full-time, for an experienced Metal Fabricator (Boilermaker Welder).
Expect a mix of fabricating, welding, assembly, repairs and maintenance. Part of your week is workshop-based. The rest is field work, such as keeping sites maintained and attending when equipment breaks down.
Tip: build an English-language CV that lists your welding processes, tickets and the plant you have worked on.
Key Responsibilities
- Use engineering drawings, plans and specifications to guide every job, and do the setting out and measuring
- Prepare and cut materials for structural and mechanical work, and form metal parts by bending and shaping
- Put together components and structures through fabrication, welding and associated processes
- Repair or modify plant and equipment
- Support maintenance of both mobile and fixed plant
- Go to breakdowns and carry out the corrective repair work needed
- Take on fabrication work in the workshop as well as out on site
- Inspect what you fabricate for accuracy and quality, confirming it matches the specifications and standards
- Run fabrication gear and workshop machines
- Do routine maintenance on machinery
- Follow site rules and safe work procedures
- Look after a neat, well-organised and professional workspace
Requirements & Eligibility
- Hold an Australian Recognised Trade Certificate III or equivalent
- Metal Fabrication experience: minimum 3 years, full-time
- Boilermaker/Welder experience that is proven, plus strong welding and fabrication capability
- Competent at interpreting engineering drawings
- Holds a National Police Certificate
- Successful results in a pre-employment medical assessment and in drug and alcohol screening
- A White Card (Construction)
- Certification for Working at Heights, gained in the past 2 years
- Certification for Confined Space, also gained in the past 2 years
- Australian Driver Licence that is valid
- Committed strongly to quality and safety
- Communicates well and works well in a team
- Work rights: Australian citizenship, permanent residency or relevant work rights
