Key Responsibilities

  • Help apprentices and junior techs with hands-on technical advice
  • Use systematic troubleshooting and proper diagnostic methods to pin down mechanical faults and their root causes, then choose a suitable repair
  • Inspect vehicles first and assess how they are running mechanically before recommending any work
  • Carry out routine servicing, preventive maintenance and general mechanical repair work
  • Fix or swap out engines, transmissions, suspension components and other mechanical systems
  • Operate diagnostic gear and workshop tools correctly and with care
  • Meet professional safety and quality standards on every repair, with careful, accurate work habits throughout
  • Test each vehicle after the repair to confirm it runs correctly
  • Cooperate with the whole automotive team and help the workshop stay tidy, safe and productive

Requirements & Eligibility

  • You hold a recognised Motor Mechanic trade qualification or an overseas qualification that is equivalent
  • Preferred: you have a minimum 2 years of practical, relevant automotive experience
  • You bring genuine, provable experience in diagnosing, servicing and repairing vehicles
  • Your diagnostic, troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills are strong
  • Experience from a dealership or a professional workshop is an advantage
  • You can supply proof of your qualifications and work history
  • Your workmanship is of a high standard and you pay attention to detail
  • You have a current driver's licence and can drive manual as well as automatic vehicles
  • You work independently, take responsibility for your finished jobs, and communicate and cooperate well in a team
  • You have a professional attitude, take workplace safety seriously, and are willing to relocate to the Northern Territory
  • Visa sponsorship may be considered for candidates who need it, subject to suitability and checks on qualifications and experience
