Management Accountant

Ready to grow your accounting career? A construction company in New South Wales, well established and growing, needs a Management Accountant. Your job is to strengthen the finance team and help manage the money side of its project-based work.
In this role you report directly to the CFO. You will work on budgets, forecasts, financial reports, cash management and finance systems. It is not just about preparing accounts. You will be trusted with important financial information, sit close to senior leadership and see how the commercial side of a solid Australian business works. For an accountant who can show proven ability, it is a good platform to step up into broader commercial responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
- Take charge of month-end accounts and reconciliations
- Make sure general ledger records and financial information stay correct
- Produce the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow report every month
- Study financial results and turn them into helpful information, analysis and reports for management
- Support yearly budgeting and regular forecasting
- Assist in planning overheads and tracking financial performance
- Monitor cash management each day and support cash flow forecasting
- Suggest improvements to finance processes and to the accuracy of reports
- Protect the quality of financial data in accounting systems and integrations, and support efficient, reliable finance systems
- Partner with the CFO and the finance team on commercial and project initiatives, and collaborate with operational teams in a complex construction environment
Requirements & Eligibility
- Qualified as a CA or CPA, or currently progressing toward it
- A tertiary qualification, relevant to the role, in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Strong grounding in financial reporting and the principles of accounting
- Practical experience following month-end procedures in accounting
- Experience with forecasting, budgeting or management reporting
- Strong capability with Excel and with financial systems
- Can analyse financial figures to spot issues or opportunities, with strong care for accuracy and financial detail
- Speaks and writes clearly, handles stakeholders in a professional way, and works effectively alongside finance and non-finance teams
- Jobpac experience is advantageous; project-based or construction accounting experience is also advantageous
- Strong applicants coming from Big 4, mid-tier audit or Business Services backgrounds are encouraged to apply
