Maintenance Fitters & Electrical Fitter Mechanic

This is not just routine maintenance. You will use your verified trade qualification, hands-on experience and problem-solving skills to look after automated production equipment, react to breakdowns and make machines more reliable. Key Responsibilities

  • Find and fix mechanical faults and breakdowns
  • Do planned preventative maintenance and routine servicing, and inspect production machines to catch problems early
  • Repair, replace and look after mechanical parts of machines
  • Troubleshoot electrical and automated production equipment, find electrical faults and get machines working again
  • Work on PLC-controlled equipment and automated production systems, using VSDs and related electrical controls where required
  • Look into failures that keep happening and help improve reliability
  • Help with planned shutdowns and maintenance projects
  • Work with production teams to cut equipment downtime
  • Keep manufacturing equipment running safely and efficiently
  • Follow workplace health, electrical, food safety and quality procedures
  • Share ideas for continuous improvement in the maintenance team

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Recognised trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or Fitter & Turner
  • For electrical positions: Certificate III Electrical or an Electrical Fitter Mechanic qualification, plus a minimum 5 years' industrial electrical experience and VSD experience
  • Demonstrated maintenance experience in industrial or manufacturing settings, including automated production machinery
  • Strong hands-on diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs
  • PLC experience with Allen Bradley or Siemens preferred
  • Current unrestricted Class C driver's licence
  • High Risk Electrical Work Licence desirable
  • Experience with MEX or a similar maintenance management system desirable
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
  • Can communicate well with production and maintenance teams
  • Can work independently and still contribute well to a team
  • Available for rotating 12-hour shifts, including days, nights and weekends
  • An Australian-recognised trade qualification is required for sponsorship consideration
  • Sponsorship available for suitably qualified candidates already based in Australia
