The client is an established food manufacturing business in Western Australia. Its production machines run at high speed, so reliability, precision and fast fault-finding are essential. General maintenance experience alone is not the focus. The client wants a tradesperson who can show real, verified skill in keeping these machines running, finding problems and making them work better, backed by practical thermoforming knowledge.
If you have used MULTIVAC thermoforming equipment, especially R-Series machines, this will be highly regarded. Prepare an English-language CV that names the machines you have worked on.
Key Responsibilities
- Do preventative and reactive maintenance on thermoforming and packaging machines
- Find and fix mechanical faults on fast production equipment, and act quickly when machines break down or production needs maintenance
- Troubleshoot the heating, forming and sealing parts of thermoforming systems
- Look after vacuum and compressed air systems, plus film feed and tension control systems
- Work on automated production equipment and servo-driven machines
- Support vacuum packaging and MAP operations
- Change tooling, adjust equipment, do production line changeovers and get the best performance from each machine
- Look into faults that keep coming back and find the root cause
- Find ways to make machines more reliable and lower downtime
- Work closely with the production and engineering teams to keep output steady
- Help install and commission machines
- Follow safety and operational procedures in all maintenance work, and take part in continuous improvement and preventative maintenance programs
Requirements & Eligibility
- You are a trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Tradesperson
- Proven experience in food manufacturing, packaging, processing or a similar production workplace
- Proven hands-on work with thermoforming machinery, and a strong understanding of how thermoforming equipment and processes work
- MULTIVAC experience is highly desirable, and time on MULTIVAC R-Series machines is advantageous
- You know forming stations, heating plates and sealing systems, as well as cutting and punching equipment
- Experience with vacuum and compressed air systems
- Experience with servo-driven machines, and an understanding of film feed and tension control systems
- Experience with MAP or vacuum packaging technology is highly regarded
- Strong skills in mechanical fault-finding and diagnosis
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- You can find the cause when complex equipment fails
- You can work alone and under production pressure
- Strong safety awareness and good preventative maintenance habits
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- You are flexible to work rotating early and afternoon shifts
