Maintenance Fitter

Good machines keep a factory running. An established FMCG manufacturing operation in Western Australia is hiring a qualified Maintenance Fitter to help make that happen.

This is a hands-on mechanical job. You will not just wait for things to break. You will plan maintenance, find mechanical faults, do repairs and inspections, and work on improvements. Your skills will help production keep moving in a fast-paced plant, so you need real trade experience and a good understanding of preventative maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stop problems early: inspect machines and spot mechanical issues as they develop
  • Do preventative maintenance on production machinery and fixed plant
  • Complete planned servicing, inspections and other scheduled maintenance tasks
  • Act quickly when there is a breakdown or an equipment failure
  • Find the cause of mechanical faults, choose the right repair and carry it out so production stops as little as possible
  • Look after pneumatic equipment, motors, bearings, gearboxes, pumps and conveyors
  • Help with changeovers and modifications to production equipment
  • Support equipment upgrades and continuous improvement projects
  • Look into faults that keep happening and suggest ways to correct them
  • Keep clear and accurate maintenance and service records
  • Work closely with production staff so the plant runs reliably, and help keep the maintenance team professional and proactive
  • Follow workplace health and safety rules at all times, together with food manufacturing, hygiene and site procedures

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, Mechanical Fitting or an equivalent qualification
  • Genuine trade qualifications and employment experience that can be verified
  • Demonstrated experience working as a qualified Maintenance Fitter
  • Experience in food manufacturing, FMCG or other high-volume production environments
  • Strong skills in troubleshooting and finding mechanical faults
  • Experience maintaining fixed plant and automated production equipment
  • Hands-on work with pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, bearings and pneumatic systems
  • Practical understanding of preventative maintenance strategies
  • Confident working in both breakdown and planned maintenance
  • Strong focus on safety, production efficiency and machinery reliability
  • Able to work independently and to contribute well to a maintenance team
  • Good communication and practical problem-solving skills
  • Willing to work rotating day and afternoon shifts
