Maintenance & Reliability Lead
Trade · Perth WA, Australia · Full-Time · $80,000/yr
A manufacturing plant in Western Australia is growing, and it needs an experienced Industrial Maintenance & Reliability Manager. The aim: fewer breakdowns, a more dependable plant and a maintenance team that plans ahead.
You should be technically strong and ready to own more, from how machines perform and how work is planned to automation and reliability. There is no finished system to take over, so you will build one and keep improving it.
Some days you are on the tools finding faults. Other days you plan jobs, manage assets, guide contractors and look for gains. Production teams, equipment manufacturers and technical specialists will work with you to keep the plant running, stop repeat failures and create habits that support long-term growth. Overseas applicants are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the plan for maintenance and reliability across the factory, and be responsible for how available and reliable the equipment is and how well maintenance performs
- Design structured maintenance programs, both predictive and preventative, and plan schedules around production needs and the criticality of each machine
- Go to breakdowns and technical faults quickly and work out why they happened
- Carry out mechanical and electrical tasks yourself where your qualifications and authorised scope allow
- Fix issues with motors, sensors, variable-speed drives, PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation and automated controls
- Trace problems in hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical and instrumentation systems
- Look for failures that keep coming back, investigate the root cause and make sure the corrective action lasts
- Keep work orders, equipment histories, maintenance records and the asset register correct
- Introduce and improve CMMS processes, such as MEX and other relevant maintenance systems for equipment
- Write maintenance standards, service intervals, inspection routines, checklists, procedures and technical records that people can actually use
- Make critical spare parts easier to identify, keep in stock and manage
- Work with outside specialists, suppliers, equipment makers and technical service providers
- Help when equipment is installed, commissioned, upgraded, modified or handed over
- Teach production operators to care for machines and report faults early, and help improve safety, response times, uptime and efficiency in the plant
- Check that every maintenance job follows isolation, lockout/tagout, permit-to-work and safety procedures, and that suitably qualified people do any licensed or specialist work
