Want to build your accounting career in rural Australia? An agribusiness that has been running for many years near Regans Ford (Northam and Wheatbelt region, WA) is hiring a Junior Accountant. Its finance side keeps getting bigger.
This is a good role for someone at the start of an accounting career. Show that you have true hands-on finance experience, that you check numbers closely and that you want to grow. Make sure your papers and job history honestly show what you can do in accounting.
You will sit with the senior finance team and help run everyday accounts for more than one company in the group. Along the way, you gain wider skills in reports, finance admin and supporting the business. Tip: have your qualification certificates translated into English if they are in Indonesian.
Key Responsibilities
- Look after money coming in: raise customer invoices, match payments to them, follow up debtors and process credits, rebates and claims
- Balance customer accounts and transactions between group companies
- Contact customers who pay late, and build aged receivables reports and forecasts of what will be collected
- Support checks on customer accounts and compliance
- Post payroll journals and maintain the payroll files
- Work on BAS, IAS and PAYG reports
- Keep ledger entries, journals and the fixed asset register in order
- Complete the reconciliations needed at the end of each month and each year
- Assist in building management and financial reports, and with watching and forecasting cash flow
- Use the accounting software so data stays correct across all the business entities
- Make sure work meets the company's policies and accounting standards
- Team up with the senior finance people on analysis and reports
- Attend finance meetings and create one-off reports when asked
Requirements & Eligibility
- You hold a Diploma or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- You have a minimum three years of work in bookkeeping, accounts or accounting
- You know reconciliations, payables and receivables well, and you have done payroll processing and Australian tax compliance
- You understand IFRS and/or the Australian Accounting Standards
- You are strong in Microsoft Excel: formulas, lookups, pivot tables
- You are well organised and pay excellent attention to detail
- You write and speak clearly and well
- You can balance many tasks at once and still meet each deadline
- Having used accounting software such as NetSuite or Reckon is advantageous
- Having worked for a multi-entity business is desirable
- CPA or CA studies will be highly regarded
