Do you know heavy trucks inside and out? A well-established transport operation in Brisbane, Queensland is growing and needs a qualified Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic.
You will work on a modern fleet of heavy road transport equipment in a workshop built for the job. Your work keeps the trucks reliable and safe and gets them back on the road fast.
The right person is proud of three things: equipment that does not break down, fault diagnosis that is correct the first time and careful, quality mechanical work.
Overseas-qualified mechanics are welcome to apply. Prepare a clear English-language CV that lists your trade papers and the truck brands you have worked on.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep heavy road transport vehicles on schedule for planned and preventative servicing
- Find mechanical faults, work out the best repair and fix them
- Look after heavy multi-combination trucks and prime movers, including Volvo and Mack Titan units
- Repair engines, transmissions, drivelines and other major components
- Rebuild or swap out components when needed
- Inspect vehicles and spot problems before they get worse
- Attend breakdowns and troubleshoot as required
- Keep every vehicle in the fleet safe and ready for work
- Fill in maintenance paperwork and service records
- Use diagnostic gear and workshop tools the right way, with safety in mind
- Work quickly and well so trucks are off the road for as little time as possible, liaising with the workshop and transport teams to keep the fleet available
- Stick to all health, safety and environmental procedures, and keep the workshop tidy and safe
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic trade qualification
- Proven work history as a Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic
- Plenty of heavy vehicle maintenance and road transport experience
- Hands-on, demonstrated work on heavy multi-combination trucks
- Highly regarded: experience with Volvo and/or Mack Titan prime movers
- Very good at finding mechanical faults and diagnosing problems
- Has worked with preventative maintenance programs
- Has done major mechanical repairs and component rebuilds
- Essential: a current C Class Australian driver's licence
- An HR licence is highly regarded
- A current National Police Clearance, or ready to obtain one
- Happy to work a structured local roster
- Safety-minded, with close attention to detail
- A dependable way of handling maintenance and repairs
- Communicates clearly and works well with others
- Open to relocating to Western Australia if required
