Head Waiter

Do you love giving guests a great night out? This Perth restaurant has a French-inspired style, and food, wine and the guest experience matter equally there. The team needs an experienced Head Waiter/Waitress.
This is more than filling a shift. You will help shape the front-of-house experience so every guest feels welcome and properly cared for. The venue is looking for someone with a reliable record in restaurant service, who brings consistency, professionalism and real care to each table.
Be ready to prove your hospitality background, service ability and professional standards. Tip: if your work references are in Indonesian, have English translations ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead by example so front-of-house service stays at a high level all the time
- Make each arrival feel warm and professional from the first hello
- Look after tables smoothly from the moment guests arrive until they leave
- Describe the food, wine, coffee and other drinks with confidence, and recommend dishes and wines to match
- Handle wine service in a professional way while keeping standards up
- Stay in close contact with the kitchen and your front-of-house colleagues, and keep service flowing on the busiest nights
- Watch whether guests are satisfied, act fast on individual needs and deal with any concern in a calm, professional way
- Coach and back up other members of the service team
- Keep the dining room tidy, organised and well presented
- Apply the venue's policies and its responsible service of alcohol procedures
- Take part in the daily opening and closing routines
- Suggest and work on improvements to the guest experience, and show reliability, professionalism and integrity as a representative of the business
Requirements & Eligibility
- Valid RSA or Manager's Liquor Licence
- Minimum 3 years working in relevant restaurant roles
- Preferred: a proven background in fine dining or professional service
- Highly regarded: past work as a head waiter, senior waiter or in a comparable role
- Solid practical knowledge of table service and how a restaurant runs
- Confidence with wine and wine service, plus a genuine interest in coffee, wine and food
- Fluent English, with strong spoken communication
- Able to stay calm under pressure, handle several priorities at once and keep standards consistent through busy shifts
- Strong leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Neat, professional presentation, a positive and reliable approach, and strong attention to detail
- Happy to work weekends and the usual hospitality trading hours
- Able to provide evidence of your employment history and relevant experience
