Head Chef

Want to lead a kitchen and help it grow? A boutique hospitality venue in Queensland is looking for a Head Chef. This is more than a standard kitchen job. The venue wants a chef with technical skill, creative ideas and strong leadership to help shape the next stage of its successful food operation.
You will have a real say in menus, specials and food quality. You will also be responsible for the kitchen team and daily operations. Your professional experience is at the centre of this role, and you can build your reputation as the venue grows.

Key Responsibilities
- Build an engaging seasonal menu, keep it fresh, and work closely with management on the culinary direction
- Come up with specials and help plan menus for events and functions
- Lead lunch and dinner service and set the example when the kitchen is busy
- Keep kitchen standards high in every trading period
- Lead and train the kitchen staff, and write practical rosters
- Coordinate daily food prep so quality and presentation stay consistent
- Manage ordering, inventory and stock rotation, control food costs and reduce kitchen waste
- Maintain HACCP and food safety standards in the workplace
Requirements & Eligibility
- A strong background as a Head Chef, or an experienced Sous Chef who is looking for a leadership position
- Cert III/IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
- Strong experience creating and developing menus
- Demonstrated ability to manage a busy commercial kitchen
- Proven leadership of a kitchen team
- Strong knowledge of costing food
- Strong knowledge of managing stock
- An excellent understanding of how food safety procedures work
- A creative approach to modern Mediterranean-inspired food is advantageous
- Available for work from Wednesday to Sunday
- Comfortable with weekend shifts and busy service times
- Strong skills in organising and communicating
