Are you an experienced chef who is ready to lead a kitchen? A premium hospitality venue in Cairns, Queensland needs a Head Chef. This is a leadership role in a busy, modern kitchen, and it is your chance to show what you can do.
You will set the culinary direction. You will guide how the team performs and keep kitchen standards high every day. The employer wants a chef with real experience in menu development, high-volume service and kitchen management. Skill with modern Japanese or Asian-inspired cuisine is also part of the picture.

Key Responsibilities
- Design modern, seasonal menus and bring them to life in the kitchen
- Use Japanese cooking techniques and Asian-inspired flavours when they suit the dish
- Run the daily kitchen operations and take ownership of how the kitchen performs
- Lead the kitchen team, and coach and develop each cook
- Build a positive team where everyone is accountable
- Organise preparation and service in a high-volume environment
- Keep taste, quality and presentation consistent, so every dish meets the set standards
- Watch food costs, stock levels and kitchen budgets, and manage ordering and supplier relationships
- Keep food safety, hygiene and workplace compliance standards in place, and look for ways to improve kitchen systems and efficiency
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven experience working as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef
- Experience you can demonstrate in a modern, high-end or premium kitchen
- Experience in Japanese, Asian or fusion cuisine is highly desirable
- Strong evidence that you have led a kitchen and supervised a team, plus strong communication and team development skills
- Experience developing menus and seasonal food concepts
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Experience managing stock, food costs and kitchen operations
- You can work effectively during busy service periods, with a high level of attention to detail and presentation
- Your professional experience must be supported by appropriate employment and experience documentation
- Sponsorship is available to the right candidate after successful completion of probation
