A new restaurant is getting ready to open in Ballarat, Victoria, and it needs a full kitchen team. The menu will be Italian-inspired. Here is who they need:

  • experienced Chefs, Cooks and Kitchen Hands to join the opening team

Key Responsibilities

  • Cook and plate high-quality food inspired by Italian and European cooking
  • Keep the taste, quality and look of every dish the same, service after service
  • Lead the kitchen and its people, and train, guide and support each team member
  • Help develop menus, recipes, specials and seasonal dishes
  • Handle food prep, buying, ordering and stock rotation, and keep an eye on stock levels, food costs and kitchen resources
  • Help plan staff hours so the kitchen runs efficiently
  • Keep kitchen procedures accurate and the same every day
  • Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace standards, and keep the kitchen clean, safe and tidy
  • Stay fast and focused during busy service
  • Help the kitchen and the management team communicate well
  • Add to a positive, professional workplace where the team comes first

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Head Chef applicants: minimum 3 years of experience as a Head Chef or senior chef, with strong leadership and communication skills for senior positions
  • Other roles: previous work as a Chef, Cook or Kitchen Hand
  • Relevant experience in a commercial kitchen that can be verified
  • Able to show your culinary skills and professional experience
  • Experience with Italian or modern European cuisine is highly regarded
  • Relevant culinary qualifications or recognised trade training are advantageous
  • Knowledge of kitchen operations, food costing, ordering and stock control
  • Able to keep standards high when the kitchen is fast-paced
  • Strong understanding of hygiene and food safety practices
  • An organised, reliable and professional way of working, and able to work well in a kitchen team
  • Available for the required hospitality shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Employer sponsorship may be available for eligible applicants, depending on skills, experience and the visa requirements that apply
