Do you keep heavy machines running? Industrial operations rely on skilled people who maintain, repair and improve critical equipment. An engineering and maintenance business in Kewdale, Perth wants qualified Fitters for a permanent position. You will need genuine, practical experience from heavy industrial, workshop or site-based jobs.
Expect a mix of tasks: mechanical servicing, overhauls, hydraulics and pneumatics, fault-finding and capital improvement work, in the workshop and for clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Keep industrial machinery and mechanical equipment running through servicing, repairs and full overhauls
- Fit and assemble mechanical parts, both on the workshop floor and on customer sites
- Handle fixed plant, mobile machinery and related mechanical systems
- Study mechanical drawings, specs and technical paperwork, then pick suitable materials, tools and work methods
- Inspect components for wear, damage and defects, and measure to confirm dimensions, tolerances, alignment and fit
- Shape and modify metal parts by cutting, grinding, pressing and forming
- Fit and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic pipework and fluid power systems, and thread, bend and cut pipe
- Work out what is wrong when equipment fails, using mechanical fault diagnosis
- Complete scheduled preventative maintenance as well as breakdown repairs
- Support refurbishment and rebuild work, equipment improvement programs, sustainable capital works and mechanical upgrades
- Write down maintenance findings and pass on important technical information
- Stay safe by following set procedures and Zero Harm principles
- Coordinate with supervisors, fellow trades and site personnel, finishing work efficiently and with professional workmanship
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised trade qualification in Fitting and Turning, or an equivalent qualification in a mechanical trade
- Minimum 5 years of mechanical fitting work in relevant roles
- A background in heavy industry, manufacturing, industrial workshops or site-based maintenance
- Demonstrated practical experience fixing and maintaining mechanical equipment
- Has worked with fixed plant, mobile equipment, or hydraulic or pneumatic systems
- Can interpret technical specifications and mechanical drawings
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills on mechanical equipment
- Confident with precision measuring instruments and mechanical tools
- A work history for this kind of role that you can demonstrate and verify
- Evidence to back up your qualifications and practical trade experience
- A strong understanding of what workplace health and safety requires, and a commitment to a safety-focused, Zero Harm work environment
- Works independently and also works effectively within a professional team
- Previous experience leading, mentoring or supervising others is advantageous
- A current driver's licence
- Can successfully pass a pre-employment medical and satisfy fitness-for-work requirements
- Willing to work at client sites as well as in the workshop in Western Australia
