Do you like finding out why a machine stopped working? An Australian technical service business in Regents Park, Sydney, needs an Electrician / Electrical Field Service Technician for commercial catering and foodservice equipment.
This is not just routine installation work. You will investigate electrical problems, find the reason equipment failed and fix it properly at the customer's site. Your days mix field service with diagnostics, repairs, testing, commissioning and technical support on many types of commercial equipment.
You will be part of a professional service team and gain specialised Australian industry experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Service and repair the electrics of commercial catering and foodservice equipment
- Find out why equipment failed by tracing electrical faults step by step, with careful diagnostics and troubleshooting
- Test components and circuits with electrical testing instruments
- Swap out or repair faulty electrical parts
- Carry out wiring and equipment changes where you hold the right licence
- Visit customers' sites for breakdown repairs and scheduled services
- Test equipment after each repair and confirm it runs safely
- Install new commercial equipment and commission it
- Help customers and other service staff with technical questions, including troubleshooting by phone and email
- Support warranty assessments and service investigations
- Own each service job from the first diagnosis to the finish
- Work with manufacturers and suppliers to solve technical problems
- Find and organise the parts and spares each repair needs, and help with equipment assembly and electrical preparation
- Keep clear records of service work done, repairs and parts used
- Lend a hand in the workshop and warehouse when required
- Build good relationships with customers, and always follow electrical safety requirements and workplace procedures
Requirements & Eligibility
- You hold a recognised electrical trade qualification
- You hold a relevant electrical licence or are eligible to get the required licensing
- You have proven practical experience in diagnostics and electrical fault finding
- You have a strong understanding of electrical circuits, wiring, controls and components
- You can show experience servicing and repairing electrical equipment
- You have worked with commercial, industrial, appliance or electro-mechanical equipment
- Experience with commercial kitchen or foodservice equipment is advantageous
- You can diagnose and fix technical faults on your own
- Earlier field service or mobile technician experience is highly regarded
- You have strong analytical and hands-on problem-solving skills
- You communicate professionally and give good customer service
- You work well with technicians, contractors, suppliers and manufacturers
- You organise yourself and manage jobs well, with a reliable focus on safety and quality
- Gas-related experience or licensing is advantageous, and forklift experience or a licence is advantageous
- You hold a current Australian driver's licence or equivalent
- You can give genuine evidence of your qualifications and relevant work experience
