Electrical Estimator & Industrial Electrician

Albury, NSW, is home to this expanding team. The employer has a long track record in electrical engineering and contracting, and it now needs two kinds of skilled people: Electrical Estimators and Industrial Electricians.

Tip: if your trade certificates are in Indonesian, get them translated into English as the visa rules require.
Key Responsibilities
- For Electrical Estimators:
- Price electrical projects in detail and prepare tender bids that are accurate and commercially sharp
- Study scopes, specs, drawings and other technical documents for each project
- Work out labour, material and subcontractor costs; request quotes from subcontractors and suppliers and weigh them up
- Flag exclusions, risks and chances to cut costs
- Support cost planning, value engineering and budgets for each project
- Deal with clients, suppliers, project managers and engineers through the whole estimating process, then support the delivery team at handover
- Keep tidy, accurate records of every estimate, price and tender
- For Industrial Electricians:
- Assemble switchboards and electrical control panels, then fit and wire them
- Complete industrial installations both on site and in the workshop, working with electrical and industrial control systems
- Check equipment and installations ahead of commissioning, then handle commissioning and start-up where required
- Diagnose faults and repair them, and carry out planned preventative maintenance
- Interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and electrical schematics
- Support automation, MCC and PLC electrical tasks where applicable
- Deliver work that meets project specifications and Australian Standards, while following every safety, health and environmental requirement
- Cooperate with supervisors, engineers and other trades so projects are finished efficiently
Requirements & Eligibility
- For Electrical Estimators:
- Demonstrated background in electrical estimating or in electrical project work
- Solid knowledge of electrical installations, systems and industry practices
- Can understand and interpret specifications and electrical drawings
- Has prepared tender submissions and project estimates before, and understands costing for labour, materials and subcontractors
- An electrical trade qualification or trade experience is advantageous
- Highly regarded: experience with project management and estimating software
- Strong numerical ability and close attention to detail
- Good problem-solving skills and commercial awareness
- Communicates effectively with project teams, suppliers and clients
- For Industrial Electricians:
- Recognised electrical trade qualification
- Current Australian Electrical Licence, or eligible to obtain the appropriate Australian licence
- Demonstrated experience in industrial electrical work, hands-on with electrical installations, control panels and switchboards
- Strong skills in diagnostics and finding faults
- Reads technical drawings and electrical schematics with confidence
- Current driver's licence
- Experience with industrial control systems, automation, MCCs or PLCs is advantageous
- Commissioning experience is highly regarded
- Works well independently and in a team, and is strongly committed to safety, quality and professional standards
