Early Childhood Educator

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer caring, responsive attention and engaging activities that boost children's wellbeing and learning
  • Earn the trust of children, families and your co-educators
  • Add your ideas to play-based programs and the day's learning experiences
  • Help deliver the curriculum under EYLF V2.0 and/or MTOP
  • Respond to what makes each child unique: their interests, strengths and developmental needs
  • Observe and record each child's learning and progress, and reflect on it
  • Build children's confidence, independence and participation, and their sense of belonging
  • Keep rooms stimulating, inclusive and neatly organised
  • Team up with Room Leaders and other educators, and speak professionally with families and colleagues
  • Practise correct supervision, child safety, health and hygiene, in line with relevant legislation, regulations, policies and service procedures
  • Join quality improvement and service development activities
  • Support a workplace culture of respect, accountability and teamwork

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Relevant work experience in early childhood education
  • Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, or an ACECQA-approved qualification that is equivalent
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check
  • Hold current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Up-to-date Anaphylaxis and Emergency Asthma Management training
  • Has completed relevant child protection and national child safety training
  • Knows EYLF V2.0 and/or MTOP
  • Understands the legislation and regulatory requirements for Australian early childhood education
  • Strong communication, both verbal and written
  • Takes a responsible, professional approach to keeping children safe and well
  • Forms positive relationships with families and children
  • Contributes effectively to a collaborative team, and is committed to professional standards and continuous improvement
  • Ready to complete all required employment, compliance and suitability checks
  • Sponsorship is available to eligible and suitable candidates once they successfully complete probation, subject to applicable requirements
