Do you know horizontal directional drilling (HDD) well? An established Australian infrastructure business in Port Adelaide, South Australia, wants a Directional Driller or Directional Drill Tracker.
A job title alone is not enough here. The employer wants to see what you have actually done, how you work and the standards you keep on site. Real project exposure, practical HDD skills and a dependable work record all matter. You will work on many kinds of projects where technical knowledge, safe decisions and steady workmanship are essential.
Service locating experience is also welcome. Sponsorship is available for suitable overseas professionals who meet the required skills, experience and eligibility criteria and truly want a long-term career in Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Run and track horizontal directional drilling equipment on infrastructure and utility projects
- Work on power, communications, water, sewer and gas jobs
- Understand what each project needs and stick to the approved drilling procedures
- Watch drilling progress and keep the site running efficiently
- Help with service locating and finding underground utilities when needed
- Keep strict safety and quality standards on every project, following workplace procedures, project systems and compliance rules
- Record operational and project information accurately
- Check and look after the drilling equipment, and report problems quickly
- Work smoothly with drilling crews, supervisors and other site staff, and communicate clearly and professionally
- Spot possible operational or safety problems and deal with them in the right way
- Keep your workmanship at the same standard from one project to the next
- Help create a professional, organised and safety-focused workplace
Requirements & Eligibility
- You have professional experience in directional drilling or drill tracking that you can demonstrate
- You have strong hands-on experience in horizontal directional drilling operations
- You can provide evidence of your previous HDD employment and experience
- You hold relevant industry qualifications, licences or accreditations
- Service locating experience is advantageous
- You have shown a real commitment to workplace health and safety
- Your employment background is reliable and consistent
- You have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and you work well in a professional site team
- You pay a high level of attention to detail
- You bring a strong work ethic and a dependable attitude
- You can follow structured systems, procedures and documentation requirements, with a professional approach to quality, safety and compliance
- You adapt easily to different projects and working environments
