Do you have experience with cows and dairy work? An established dairy farm in Victoria, Australia is looking for a Dairy Farm Hand. This is a genuine, verified job, and it gives you hands-on work on a large-scale dairy operation.
The farm needs a practical, dependable person who is comfortable with cattle. You should understand that animals need consistent care. Your days will follow the full cycle of the farm: milking, feeding, livestock management, help at calving time and general farm work.
This is more than a basic farm-hand job. You will work in a structured dairy environment, build your Australian industry experience and help the farm perform well every day. If you are applying from Indonesia, write your CV in English and list the farms and animals you have worked with.
Key Responsibilities
- Milk cows every day on a rotary dairy system
- Move and handle cattle in a safe, efficient way
- Watch the health and wellbeing of the herd, and point out any animal that needs extra care or attention
- Help cows during calving and look after the newborn calves
- Feed and care for calves, following the farm's routines
- Use the feeding equipment to give feed to the livestock
- Work at the different farm locations of the dairy operation, and do general farm duties as required
- Clean and maintain the dairy facilities, keeping working conditions safe and hygienic
- Follow the farm's animal welfare and workplace procedures, and cooperate with farm management and other staff
- Finish your scheduled tasks accurately and on time
Requirements & Eligibility
- Past work on a dairy farm or with livestock, including practical experience handling cattle
- You know basic dairy farm routines and animal care
- Milking experience will be highly regarded
- You can work safely around large livestock and farm machinery
- Physically able to stand, walk and do manual work for extended periods
- A strong work ethic and the willingness to take initiative
- Reliable, punctual and self-motivated
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, plus strong organisation and time management
- You can follow instructions and established farm procedures
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- You must hold a valid driver's licence and have access to your own vehicle
- Willing to live and work in Victoria
- Sponsorship is available for the right applicant. Because of the accommodation available, this is a one-person position
