Crusher Fitter / Boilermaker

Do you like solving mechanical problems on big machines? A professional equipment service team in Lonsdale, Adelaide is hiring an experienced Crusher Fitter / Boilermaker. You will be responsible for keeping critical processing plant working well.
Your days will be varied. You will move between the workshop, customer premises and regional sites. The machines include crushers, screens and other plant, both mobile and fixed. Most of your time goes into planned maintenance, finding faults, repair work and looking after customers.

Key Responsibilities
- Keep heavy processing machines in good order through regular servicing, whether they are mobile or stationary
- Inspect machines, carry out preventative maintenance and repairs, and get units ready before they are delivered
- Investigate each breakdown until you know what caused the mechanical fault
- Diagnose hydraulic problems with pressure and flow tests
- Check hydraulic components and fix or replace them where required
- Work from service manuals, hydraulic schematics and OEM technical documentation
- Find faults in electrical control systems running on 12V and 24V, using electrical schematics plus voltage and continuity tests
- Travel to customers for technical service and breakdown call-outs, in the city, regional areas and remote sites as required
- Judge the condition of plant and advise what corrective or preventative work it needs
- After each job, write a detailed service and technical report
- Keep a correct record of inspections, repairs, test results, equipment settings and photographs
- Meet OEM specifications, workplace procedures and safety standards every time
- Speak with customers face to face, solve their technical problems in a practical way, and help them cut downtime so plant stays reliable
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised trade qualification, relevant to this work, in Fitting, Boilermaking, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- At least 2 years post-trade in a relevant mechanical workplace
- Hands-on work with fixed-plant, mining or quarry equipment
- Experience with mobile or heavy industrial equipment
- Highly regarded: crushing, screening or mineral processing equipment experience
- Strong at mechanical repairs and troubleshooting
- Good practical understanding of hydraulics, and you can interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Basic diagnostic skills on 12V and 24V electrical systems
- Full unrestricted Australian C Class Driver Licence, or you can obtain one
- It is advantageous to hold HR and forklift licences
- Happy to split your time between the workshop, customer sites and other sites, and to travel to remote and regional locations
- Fit for hands-on mechanical work, able to meet pre-employment medical requirements and able to pass drug and alcohol screening
