Do you like cooking but want your evenings free? A hospitality business in Cervantes, Western Australia needs a capable Cook with proven commercial kitchen experience, practical skills and a dependable attitude.
You will take responsibility across the kitchen: preparing ingredients, cooking, plating, handling stock and keeping your work area clean and efficient. You will work with an experienced team that cares about consistency, teamwork and attention to detail.
The kitchen focuses mainly on lunch, so most evenings are free. You need to be available on weekends and public holidays, and sometimes for functions. Keep proof of your past kitchen jobs ready, because your experience must be verifiable.
Key Responsibilities
- Get ingredients and food items ready for each day in the kitchen
- Cook menu dishes with the right commercial kitchen equipment, and time prep and cooking so service runs smoothly
- Keep food quality and presentation the same every time, and help plate finished dishes
- Help prepare group meals when needed
- Work side by side with the Head Chef and the other kitchen staff, especially in busy, high-pressure periods
- Check kitchen stock and help control inventory
- Receive, label, store and rotate food products the correct way
- Take simple, practical steps to reduce food waste
- Keep the kitchen tidy, hygienic and well presented, following food safety and workplace hygiene requirements
- Do the required opening and closing procedures
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 1 year of commercial cooking experience that is relevant
- Practical knowledge of cooking techniques and food preparation
- Can show genuine work experience that can be verified
- Comfortable in a fast-paced commercial kitchen, keeping quality and efficiency up under pressure
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Reliable and consistent with your workplace responsibilities
- Works well in a team, with a positive and professional attitude
- Happy to work on public holidays and weekends
- Can be available for the occasional function when required
- Where applicable, can satisfy the relevant sponsorship requirements
