CNC Operator /Craftsman

Are you a joiner or cabinetmaker who loves precise work? A modern production workshop wants a CNC Joiner / Cabinetmaker. You can bring your current skills and keep developing as a specialist.

The workshop makes plywood kitchens, cabinetry and furniture. The team mixes traditional joinery with CNC production and Lean manufacturing systems.

The ideal person is hands-on, dependable, curious and wants to keep improving. Experience gained overseas is fine, as is experience from New Zealand, if you can prove real capability and a good work attitude.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use CNC machines to make cabinetry and furniture
  • Prepare parts and machine them accurately to the specifications
  • Assemble cabinets and furniture and do the finishing work
  • Check finished work for accuracy and quality, and keep the workmanship consistent at every step of production
  • Find production problems and help fix them
  • Help with installation jobs when required
  • Keep the workshop clean, organised and efficient, and follow the set production, safety and quality procedures
  • Use Lean manufacturing and 3S principles, and look for ways to improve processes and cut unnecessary waste
  • Be a strong member of the production team, helping keep productivity and workmanship standards high
  • Take responsibility for finishing your assigned work to the required standard
  • Learn more about CNC equipment and production systems through training and continuous-improvement activities

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Practical experience in joinery, cabinetmaking, CNC machining or furniture manufacturing
  • Can show you produce accurate, high-quality work, with strong attention to detail
  • Works in a reliable and consistent way
  • Good practical skills and good at solving problems
  • Can work with limited supervision
  • Willing to learn new equipment, processes and systems
  • A strong sense of responsibility and personal accountability, and a positive attitude to feedback and professional development
  • HOMAG, WoodWOP, IMOS or other CNC experience is advantageous
  • Trade experience from overseas is welcome, and New Zealand trade experience is not mandatory
  • Current New Zealand manual driver's licence
  • Able to drive a long-wheelbase manual van
  • Willing to complete the required Lean training before a practical trial
  • Eligible overseas applicants may be considered for visa sponsorship
