Key Responsibilities

  • Get the daily prep and mise en place done, and plan ahead for lunch and dinner services
  • Cook meals to the kitchen's set standards
  • Stick to recipes so every dish is consistent and good quality
  • Keep several cooking jobs going at once in the busiest part of service
  • Check each plate for quality, presentation and the right portion size
  • Help develop menus and recipes when asked
  • Keep your station neat, clean and hygienic, using proper food safety and hygiene steps
  • Work closely with the rest of the kitchen crew through service, and help with general kitchen tasks when needed
  • Finish your prep and cooking on time, and adjust quickly when service needs or priorities change
  • Perform steadily in a high-volume kitchen while helping keep the workplace positive, professional and cooperative

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Demonstrated professional experience working as a Cook or Chef
  • Proven background in commercial kitchens, including busy, high-volume hospitality venues
  • Can keep food quality consistent when under pressure
  • Sound understanding of cooking methods and how to prepare food
  • Follows recipes and kitchen procedures accurately
  • Well organised and good at managing time
  • Reliable and professional with workplace duties, with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude
  • Communicates and works well as part of a kitchen team
  • Passionate about food preparation and hospitality
  • Can work weekends, early mornings and late nights when required
  • Previous multi-venue hospitality experience is advantageous
  • Relevant culinary qualifications and/or substantial industry experience
  • Can meet applicable Australian employment and visa requirements
  • Willing to go through the required candidate verification and assessment process; sponsorship available for eligible and suitably experienced candidates
