Key Responsibilities
- Set a good example for the team in daily kitchen work
- Cook and plate modern dishes that are always of a high standard
- Use many different professional cooking techniques
- Keep flavour, presentation and portion sizes the same every time
- Work smoothly with the kitchen team during service and keep things moving when it is very busy
- Help with prep, food production and planning for service
- Check that food quality and prep meet the standard
- Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace safety rules, and keep the kitchen clean, organised and professional
- Help the senior chefs run the kitchen day to day
- Build a friendly, cooperative team that aims for strong results
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or another recognised equivalent qualification
- Minimum 1–3 years of commercial kitchen experience
- Has worked before as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef or in a similar position
- Strong technical cooking knowledge and practical kitchen skills
- Proven at producing quality modern cuisine
- Works quickly and consistently under pressure
- Good at communicating and working in a team
- Well organised and manages time well
- Well presented, with a work ethic you can rely on
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and OH&S requirements
- Can work flexible shifts on a 7-day roster, evenings included
- Able to give professional employment referees with current contact details; visa sponsorship can form part of the employment pathway
