Key Responsibilities
- Cook Asian dishes to set recipes and quality standards, using sound Asian cooking techniques and prep knowledge
- Plan, organise and coordinate each day's food prep and cooking
- Help plan menus and estimate food and labour costs
- Check every dish for quality, consistency, portion and presentation
- Make sauces, ingredients and other parts needed for service
- Order and manage food supplies to suit the kitchen's needs
- Use commercial ovens, grills and other cooking equipment, keeping correct cooking temperatures and food handling standards
- Follow hygiene and food safety procedures every time
- Cook meals with special dietary needs in mind
- Tell management about kitchen issues or prep concerns, and report quality problems with practical ideas to fix them
- Work closely with the kitchen and service teams each day
- Show other staff the right cooking methods, and help train and develop the team when required
- Help with preserving, freezing and storing food where required
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised and efficient
Requirements & Eligibility
- A relevant formal cookery qualification and/or a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience
- Proven professional experience cooking Asian cuisine, with genuine hands-on skills you can demonstrate
- Strong understanding of how a commercial kitchen runs
- Able to reproduce dishes consistently from set recipes
- Experience keeping food quality and presentation to standard
- Understanding of food hygiene, food safety and safe kitchen practices
- Able to work well in a structured, high-performing team
- Strong attention to detail, and able to follow instructions, procedures and kitchen systems
- A reliable, dependable work attitude with professional and ethical conduct
- Clear communication with managers and co-workers
- Stays calm and productive in busy service periods
- Willing to take responsibility and help improve operations
