Key Responsibilities

  • Own the kitchen's day-to-day running and the service it delivers
  • Guide, supervise and grow your chefs and kitchen staff, and coach junior team members
  • Hold food quality, presentation and portions to the same high level, making sure everyone follows recipes, prep methods and portion standards
  • Plan how prep, cooking and service fit together
  • Help create menus, specials and seasonal dishes
  • Keep an eye on food, labour and operating costs
  • Order stock, manage inventory and handle supplier needs, using good stock control to reduce waste
  • Keep food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards strict
  • Watch how work flows through the kitchen, spot operational problems and fix them in practical ways
  • Work hand in hand with venue management and the rest of the hospitality team
  • Step up and lead during peak and high-volume services
  • Create a kitchen that feels professional, structured and positive
  • Be accountable for the kitchen's overall results and standards

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Demonstrated experience working as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior kitchen professional
  • Proven ability to run a commercial kitchen on your own
  • Strong hands-on skills in cooking and food prep, and happy to take an active, hands-on role in the kitchen
  • Experience leading kitchen teams and delegating tasks, with a professional approach to leadership and developing staff
  • Understands food costing, labour control, stock management and wastage
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements
  • Experience in pubs, hotels, clubs or other high-volume hospitality venues is advantageous
  • Can keep quality and consistency high when service is busy
  • Strong organisation and time-management skills
  • Stays calm and works well under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Relevant culinary qualifications and/or substantial industry experience
