Have you grown step by step in your kitchen career? A hospitality business in New South Wales wants a Qualified Chef for its professional kitchen team.
The employer wants to see real growth in your work history. You may have started with prep and service, then moved up to running a section and helping the wider kitchen. The work is varied: à la carte dining, weddings, corporate functions and other events.
The shifts are straight, with no split shifts. This suits a chef who likes order, consistency and good kitchen standards. Sponsorship is available for suitable candidates, so keep your qualification papers and reference letters ready in English.
Key Responsibilities
- Run your own kitchen section, from prep through to service
- Do the mise en place each day to match production needs
- Cook dishes for à la carte menus and for events, including weddings, corporate functions and private functions
- Keep food quality, presentation and portion sizes consistent
- Change your pace to suit different service sizes and kitchen needs
- Follow the recipes, prep standards and kitchen procedures
- Keep up food safety, hygiene and cleanliness, and keep your workstation clean, organised and ready for service
- Check stock levels and rotate stock the right way, and label, store and handle ingredients correctly
- Prepare carefully and manage stock well to keep food waste low
- Talk clearly with the other chefs and kitchen staff, and help service run smoothly when it gets busy
- Help junior cooks and share what you know when needed
- Take on extra kitchen duties that match your experience
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent recognised qualification
- Relevant experience in commercial kitchens at Demi Chef, Chef de Partie or Sous Chef level
- Demonstrated growth in responsibility in professional kitchens
- Able to run a designated section on your own
- Experience with à la carte cooking and service, and with preparing food for functions and events
- Able to keep standards consistent when service is under high pressure
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices in a commercial kitchen
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Reliable attendance, professional work habits and a strong work ethic, with a willingness to contribute to the team
- Available to work weekends as required
- Current driver's licence
- Genuine qualifications and a work history that can be verified, and the ability to provide suitable evidence of your past culinary experience
