Key Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the kitchen section you are given, keeping standards professional in every task
  • Cook pub-style and gastro-style dishes from the menu
  • Prepare dough and toppings for pizzas to the set standard, fire the ovens and time each bake well
  • Finish the mise en place and daily prep
  • Watch food quality through each service, with even portions and consistent plating
  • Set up the ingredients and equipment needed for service, rotate stock and keep track of what ingredients are needed
  • Stick to cleanliness, hygiene and food safety procedures
  • Keep work flowing smoothly in busy times
  • Move between pizza service, functions and gastro dining as required
  • Communicate well with fellow chefs and kitchen staff
  • Support junior staff with hands-on guidance where required
  • Share ideas for menu development and kitchen improvements

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Demonstrated commercial kitchen background, including time as a Chef de Partie or in a comparable role
  • Solid background in pub, gastro or similar dining
  • A track record of making pizza, from dough prep to managing the oven
  • Around 3–5 years of professional kitchen experience is preferred
  • Can show they have run a kitchen section independently
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and commercial food prep
  • Knows hygiene and food safety standards
  • Keeps consistency and quality up when service is busy
  • Presents and conducts themselves professionally
  • Strong verbal and written communication, and well organised with good time management
  • Adaptable, reliable and a good team player
  • Leadership and mentoring experience is desirable
  • Professional references required to verify past employment and experience
  • Currently based in Australia
  • Can commence within a reasonable timeframe
  • Sponsorship or nomination transfer available for eligible candidates, subject to business approval and successful probationary performance
