Do you love working the grill? A busy, professional kitchen in South Australia, in the Mount Barker, Adelaide Hills and Barossa area, needs a skilled Chef de Partie.
You will look after your own kitchen section and cook a wide mix of quality restaurant food. The menu has premium steaks, ribs, grilled meats, burgers and pizzas, plus freshly made sides and extras.
The kitchen wants a chef with energy and drive. You should be happy working on your own, and you should also help keep the team spirit strong.
It is a good idea to prepare an English-language CV that shows which kitchen stations you have run before.
Key Responsibilities
- Run the kitchen station you are given and get it clean, organised and ready before service
- Prep ingredients and finish the daily mise en place
- Cook steaks, ribs and other grilled meats
- Make burgers, pizzas, sauces, sides and the rest of the menu
- Plate every dish to the set quality standard, with the same taste, portion and look each time
- Watch cooking and temperatures closely
- Follow food safety, hygiene and HACCP rules
- Check in deliveries, put food and supplies away properly, and help with stock rotation and inventory
- Look for ways to waste less food
- Help and guide junior kitchen staff when needed
- Talk clearly with the kitchen crew and front-of-house team
- Help create new menu items and daily specials
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent qualification
- Minimum 1 year of relevant commercial kitchen experience
- Has worked as a Chef de Partie, Chef or in a similar position
- Strong cooking skills on many different kitchen sections
- Grill and meat preparation experience is preferred
- Knows HACCP and commercial kitchen safety rules
- Performs well in busy services and pays strong attention to detail
- Communicates well and works well in a team
- Flexible about a rotating hospitality roster, and able to meet the requirements for visa sponsorship where applicable
