Chef de Partie

Do you have real experience in commercial kitchens? A professional hotel kitchen in Queensland needs Chef de Partie professionals. You will run your own section and give reliable results when it gets busy.
You will cook for restaurant dining, conferences, functions and events. Your hands-on skills, qualifications and work history will show if you suit the role. If you perform well, you can earn more responsibility.
A proven Chef de Partie with the required technical ability, leadership and consistency may have the chance to move up to a Junior Sous Chef position. Tip: keep copies of your certificates, with English translations where the visa rules require them.
Key Responsibilities
- Run the kitchen section given to you without needing supervision
- Plan your daily prep and set up your mise en place
- Cook food that meets the set quality and presentation standards
- Keep dishes the same for restaurant, function and event services, and help with conference and high-volume food service
- Control portion sizes and use ingredients carefully, help rotate stock and reduce food waste
- Work well with senior chefs and other kitchen staff
- Support junior staff and help keep the kitchen a positive place
- Keep food hygiene, safety and cleanliness high, and follow workplace health and safety procedures
- Stay organised and effective in busy service times
- Take on more responsibility as you prove your skills
- Help with lunch, dinner, events and other needs, so the whole kitchen runs smoothly
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven experience as a Chef de Partie, or as an equivalent commercial kitchen professional
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification
- You can run and manage a kitchen section on your own
- Practical cooking and food preparation skills you can show
- Commercial kitchen experience in different types of service
- Understanding of WHS, food safety and hygiene requirements
- You keep quality and consistency high under pressure
- Strong communication and teamwork, and a reliable, professional attitude to kitchen duties
- You can work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
- Leadership or supervisory experience is advantageous
- Australian work rights where applicable; candidates needing sponsorship may be considered based on individual eligibility
- You can provide suitable evidence of your qualifications and relevant work experience
- A clear commitment to professional development and career progression, and you are willing to take on more responsibility based on proven performance
