Key Responsibilities
- Do the daily prep and mise en place that each service needs
- Cook dishes to the set quality and presentation standards, keeping taste, portion sizes and presentation the same every time
- Follow recipes, cooking methods and kitchen procedures
- Work quickly and well in busy services, and adjust when service needs and kitchen priorities change
- Work closely with the kitchen team and help senior chefs and other staff when required
- Stick to the rules for food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety
- Keep prep areas, equipment and workstations clean and in order
- Check that ingredients are good quality and help store food correctly
- Help rotate stock, keep stock levels right and cut unnecessary food waste
- Help make the workplace positive, professional and team-focused
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, or a qualification that is equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in commercial kitchens
- Can work with confidence in a professional kitchen, and has demonstrated this
- Relevant qualifications and work history that can be verified
- Practical knowledge of commercial cooking techniques and food preparation
- Strong commitment to hygiene, presentation and food quality
- Stays organised and productive under high pressure
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, reliable attendance and a strong professional work ethic
- Happy to work on weekends and public holidays
- Must currently be based in Sydney
- Must satisfy applicable Australian immigration and sponsorship requirements
- The successful eligible candidate can receive sponsorship
